In summary, the following benefits are expected in relation to the improvement of the services provided by DEYAVA for all the residents of Platanias, after the commissioning of the proposed telemetry system:<\/p>

  • Addressing the high rate of unpriced water<\/li>
  • Higher speed of dealing with problems (leaks, breakages) in order to reduce the actual water losses accordingly.<\/li>
  • Through knowledge of the network, the pressure will also be managed, which plays a key role in reducing losses.<\/li>
  • Positive environmental impacts, including the protection of water as a natural resource, since less water is pumped, and the reduction of energy consumption, since the reduction of non-revenue water means less energy consumed. Carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions are also reduced.<\/li>
  • Positive economic impacts include a reduction in costs since saving the quantities of water entering the network reduces the costs associated with them (pumping, transport, treatment or disinfection and distribution).<\/li><\/ul>

    The benefits for DEYAVA and the Municipality of Platanias in general are divided into direct and indirect benefits.<\/p>

    \u0391. Direct Benefit<\/strong>
    The immediate benefit that will accrue when the Phase A procurement is completed and will come from:<\/p>

    1. The relative increase in the efficiency of network equipment<\/li>
    2. From the reduction in staff travel<\/li>
    3. The relative reduction in the supply of chemicals (chlorine for the disinfection of drinking water)<\/li>
    4. The relative reduction in the required maintenance and repair of engines, propulsion units and network equipment<\/li>
    5. Better quality of service to citizens and consumers.<\/li>
    6. Increase in the work efficiency of DEYAVA employees.<\/li><\/ol>

      \u0392. Indirect Benefit<\/strong>
      Although there will be significant benefits from the operation of the proposed system, no assessment of the benefits will be made here, but only a reference to their characteristics:
      Water saving<\/strong><\/p>

      • Function:<\/span> Under the current situation, the submersible borehole pumps and booster pump sets are operated with the sole objective of keeping the reservoirs full so that there are no water shortages. The absence of telemetric data of the submersible and booster pump units and the demand of the settlements has resulted in their energy-intensive operation. This will be achieved by using different water supply parameters and scenarios, which will be defined each time by the CSO.<\/li>
      • Leakage Control:<\/span> The issue of leaks is a priority for DEYAVA and is directly linked to saving natural resources and optimizing the services offered to citizens.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
